Drug Uses

Lipitor is used with diet changes (restriction of cholesterol and fat intake) to reduce the amount of cholesterol and certain fatty substances in your blood. Accumulation of cholesterol and fats along the walls of your arteries (a process known as atherosclerosis) decreases blood flow and, therefore, the oxygen supply to your heart, brain, and other parts of your body. Lowering your blood level of cholesterol and fats may help to prevent heart disease, angina (Chest pain), strokes, and heart attacks.

How Taken

Lipitor comes as a tablet to take it orally. It is usually taken once a day with or without food. To help you remember to take Lipitor, take it around the same time every day. Your doctor may start you on a low dose of Lipitor and gradually increase your dose. Continue to take Lipitor even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Lipitor without talking to your doctor. Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet

Warnings/Precautions

Do not take Lipitor without first talking to your doctor if you have liver disease. Before taking Lipitor, tell your doctor if you have a chronic muscular disease, require major surgery, or have a blood disorder. You may not be able to take Lipitor, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above. Lipitor is in the FDA pregnancy category X. This means that Lipitor is known to cause birth defects if it is taken during pregnancy. Do not take Lipitor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. It is not known whether Lipitor passes into breast milk. Do not take this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

Missed Dose

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and take the next one as directed. Do not take a double dose of this medication unless otherwise directed by your doctor.

"It's hard for me to talk about what happened. Let's just say that I was ugly and I felt awful. People said it was my own fault. It wasn't. I tried everything. It didn't help. The only thing that finally helped was Lipitor. I just want people to know that Lipitor can make a difference. If you haven't tried Lipitor, you're cheating yourself."

F.A.Q

What are the differences between Lipitor brand-name drugs and Lipitor generic drugs?
You probably know that pharmaceutical companies carry out extensive research and clinical testing to win approval from the Food and Drug Administration for new drugs. The new drug is then protected by patent for at least 10 years. Hence, a brand-name drug. When the patent expires another drug company can "copy the recipe" for the brand drug. This "copy" is called a generic drug. The FDA requires that generic Lipitor have the same active chemical composition, be dispensed in the same dosage form such as a tablet or capsule and be taken in the same dosage as the brand-name drug.
Reliableprescriptionsonline.com recommends the use of a generic drug only when it is "A" rated, the highest bioequivalent rating by the FDA.
Generic Lipitor cost less and competitive pricing by the different manufacturers further reduces the prices. Occasionally, generic drugs may look different from their brand-name versions because the inactive ingredients such as fillers and dyes can be different. However, these ingredients do not affect the safety or performance (efficacy) of the drug.

Q. What is your policy on medication expiry dates for Lipitor?
Reliableprescriptionsonline.com fully complies with all the policies in expiry dates.
We always dispense the best dated products available. Generally our products will have an expiry date of at least one to two years from when we dispense them. In fact, we remove medication from our shelves at least four months prior to the date they expire.
In addition to this, we always make sure products will not expire during the period the customer needs to use them.
